CD: Bob Rowland. FAI judges: Peter Cappleman, Stuart Mellor. Judges: Dave Mathias, Hubert Pritchard. Score recorders: Margaret and Gavin Smith. Podium: FAI P11: 1st Matt Hoyland, 2nd Steve Burgess, 3rd Dave Matthias. Masters: Hubert Pritchard. Advanced: 1st Adrian Mansell, 2nd Bob Rowland. Intermediate: 1st Steve Hunt, 2nd Adam Lomax, 3rd Richard Smith. One of the nicest days for weather we have had at Skelbrooke with a light breeze blowing out 45° from the left. No howling gale this time but challenging conditions for a novice (me), I thought my first flight was close to Robin Hood airfield but Matt said it was closer to Aberdeen! Bob as CD demonstrated an almost perfect take off scoring 9 followed by a perfect 10 for recovery and safe landing after a intermittent radio link. Steve Burgess took the first round in FAI but Matt rallied to take rounds 2 and 3 with Dave Matthias close behind in 3rd place. Hubert in Masters had an uncharacteristic engine cut and over shot the runway on landing, and although some repair is necessary the model will fly again. Adrian took first place again in Advanced with Bob having the radio trouble which through the day was investigated without any firm conclusions. The ‘competition’ of the day was in Intermediate where the average age was 15, if you leave out Steve of course, who achieved his first 1st place from Adam Lomax who was so close behind in 2nd place and Richard in 3rd. All three competitors gaining promotion points. A super competition, Thank you Bob. Ashley
