CD: Gareth Gordon. FAI Juges:Hubert Pritchard, Gary Armstrong. Judges:Dave Matthias, Keith Jackson, Brain Hoare. Score recorder: Dave Gordon. Podium: FAI P11:1st Keith Jackson, 2nd Dave Matthias, 3rd Steve Simm. Masters: 1st Hubert Prichard, 2nd Mark Pearce, 3rd Gary Armstrong. Advanced: Bob Rowland. Intermediate: 1st Gareth Gordon, 2nd Richard Smith, 3rd Mike Watters. CDs Report: Arriving at the site early to set up we were greeted with a light drizzle which quickly cleared into a warm beautiful morning and very light breeze. Intermediates led the way with Gareth flying first, followed by Mike and the ever improving, (and growing) Richard with his Lazulite. Bob, battling against himself was always going to find the pressure and competition tough going in Advanced with Masters and FAI enjoying some good flying along the way, (although Steve Simm had a troublesome engine early on requiring a quick bit of surgery to get it sorted). The wind changed direction for the second round giving most the chance to fly the schedule in the opposite direction and one FAI competitor a chance to fly solo as his caller completely forgot.....sorry Dave but you did improve your score without me!! Third round flying ended after the Intermediates had flown and the rain moved in which following a brief discussion led to us cancelling the remaining flights and moving onto the prize giving. Optifuel very kindly supported the event with fuel for the winners and mugs and gifts for the runners up meaning most left with something, (unless you name was Keith) and a very nice shield. I think everyone who attended enjoyed the event and I was particularly pleased with the very positive reviews of our site from all who attended, looking forward to seeing you again next year!! Big thanks to Dave, Keith, Brian, Hubert and Gary for Judging and my Dad for acting as scorer throughout the day.
