AXI 5330 with Jeti Spin ESC... Grinding Noise at 1/2 power
« on: 20, April 2018, 12:36:26 PM »

Hello,

This week I managed to get my Vanquish out, first time, weather OK and all set to go, on the take off run the throttle was gradually opened and then just as I was about to pull some up stick there was a horrible noise from the motor, I closed down and brought the model back, at first I thought the prop / spinner was slipping, I checked the nut and it was firm.

I retired back home and set the model up again, I restrained the model and then gradually opened the throttle, at about 60% the noise occured again.

Has anyone had the same out of this motor.

This is my first large Axi motor so I think I have not done something, any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

Andy

Make sure timing on the ESC is set to 24 deg as a first check

I agree with Chris, this is most likely a timing issue. To make sure you have it right have the model on the ground and throttle up as rapidly as you can, if it "screams" then increase the timing. High pole count motors often need the highest timing an ESC can deliver.

Well, after buying a new Jetibox I managed to get into the correct menu and make the changes, first flight today with no issues, just need to get the fine tuning stsrted and get the feel of the model

Thank you for the help I got from the members and also to Brian Hoare who also helped out

Happy face back on
