Advanced: Adrian Mansell. Intermediate: Steve Hunt. Hosts: Hurley Plane Crazy Model Flying Club, Thank you to your Chairman and members for the use of your flying site, preparation and excellent hospitality. This was the first F3A event hosted by the Plane Crazy MFC situated 10 minutes from Junction 9 of the M42. Whilst Centralised events have been the preserve of FAI pilots competing for UK Team places they are also an excellent opportunity for pilots at other levels to take part in a domestic competition whilst watching and learning from the best F3A pilots in the country. With 10 pilots competing Intermediate, Advanced, Masters and FAI schedules were flown. Flying commenced at 9.45 am in a very strong crosswind blowing out with the sun in the box adding to the difficulty. All pilots (excluding editor) handled the conditions well with Keith Jackson taking the first round in FAI exhibiting enviable accuracy. Conditions eased as flying progressed with round 2 scores reflecting this. The 3rd round followed after a BBQ lunch provided by the club which was enjoyed by competitors and club members alike. In FAI Keith Jackson was the winner taking 2 of the 3 rounds with the ever improving Matt Hoyland a close second. In the other classes all pilots handled the conditions well with Adrian Mansell flying in Advanced with his Elation Models Zephyr (YS 170 Power) really impressing, achieving promotion points in rounds 2 and 3. (Visit the GBRCAA Competition Results page at www.gbrcaa.org/competitionresults.htm for individual round scores). This years Four Centralised events have now been completed and have produced a really strong UK Team. Keith Jackson, Richard Christopher and John Harrop with Matt Hoyland as a reserve will represent Great Britain in the 2011 World Championships in the USA. We wish them well. Adrian
