The competition was announced rather late in the day as an end of season ‘bash’ with the weather being a major concern. However the response from competitors was excellent with all the available flying slots being over subscribed. On the day we were blessed with a clear sunny weather with light winds. In total we had 14 pilots across 5 classes. Flying commenced at 9.00 with FAI but immediately the sun was a problem making life very difficult for the earlier competitors. In FAI Brandon won all 3 rounds using his EP Oxalys, 2nd place was decided by 1 point in Matt Hoylands favour capping off an excellent seasons flying. Keith Jackson was 3rd competing with his trusty Angel Shadow and is now preparing his Oxai Axiome for the World Champs in the USA next summer. With the Masters league title up for grabs Hubert Pritchard managed to pip Mark Pearce on the day the result being that both finished the season on 122 points (now for the small print). Advanced was won convincingly by Adrian Mansell who has flown with great skill all season a certainty for FAI next season?? Adam Lomax had secured the Intermediate title prior to this competition so moved up to Advanced and performed very well indeed. Illustrating the enthusiasm within F3A Adam and his Father travelling from the North East had to abandon their car due to mechanical problems but completed the journey in Dads work van arriving just in time to fly. In Clubman Brian Bates competed for the first time and achieved good scores flying an ageing Smart Move a very good performance. All in all the day went well with great support from club members manning the BBQ and Sue Dunning keeping the hot drinks flowing. Flying was completed just as the rains started. Hopefully we can repeat this next year weather permitting. Adrian
