The results were very close at the end of the competition in FAI and Masters. All the scores can be seen in full here: http://www.gbrcaa.org/competitionresults.htm . Not ideal conditions by any means to hold our Championships but we did not get wet and in the end the weather was better than expected. Three rounds on Saturday were flown with the wind about 90 degrees out with pilots choosing to fly their favourite way. On Sunday the wind was right to left but still blowing out. We were saddened by the loss of one aircraft early I the competition and a couple of undercarriage legs needed some attention by the close of play. Keith Jackson was the only IC powered model competing until Dave East used his reserve model, a full blown Curare with OS 60 on a pipe, retracts, flaps and huge recollections of nostalgia. I wasn’t the only one who could not believe (remember) how fast and how small the model was when compared to today's 'full house'(Now there is a term from the early days). Congratulations to those who competed in difficult conditions and particularly to Kevin, Matt, Steve and Arthur who flew the unknown in the last round. The manoeuvres were picked by the pilots flying the schedule at the Saturday evening get together at the Rose in Baxterley. Matt and Steve battled through the consumption of stakes and menu specials to compile the Unknown schedule, calling cards and score sheets. Garry Peacock won the FAI P only competition so he was “invited” to fly the judges warm-up of the Unknown Schedule. Due to it’s complexity he was asked to fly it twice and very impressive it was.
